CAA Seeks to Further Engage with Stakeholders – Sir Stephen Hillier

In the keynote address at the BBGA (British Business & General Aviation Association) Annual Conference and AGM on March 12 in London, CAA (UK Civil Aviation Authority) chair Sir Stephen Hillier stressed efforts being made to engage with and listen to the industry more. “We want to be a world-class regulator and engage with stakeholders,” he said, while adding that he was positive on how the CAA had coped with taking a wider role again since Brexit and leaving EASA.

BBGA Conference Report: Celebrating 50 Years

The annual conference of the British Business & General Aviation Association (BBGA) took place in London on Thursday, March 12, 2026. With war raging in the Middle East, there was a certain air of nervousness—many delegates had been busy coping with disruption. BBGA Chair Aoife O’Sullivan opened the conference by reflecting on the “huge growth in their sector” since BBGA was formed 50 years ago, although then it was known as the General Aviation Manufacturers and Traders Association (GAMTA).

A recent ‘Future of Flight’ summit at the Royal Aeronautical Society in London (20-21 September 2023) highlighted the growing significance of new in-development aircraft powered electrically or by hydrogen, many of which can take off and land vertically (the so-called ‘eVTOLs’). The Future of Flight summit was opened by RAeS president, 2023-24, Kerissa Khan, who has spectacularly broken the mold of typical RAeS presidents who tend to be male (not always) and late in their career.
