Jet Systems Targets Luxury Niche at HPN

Renovations completed in 2006 made Jet Systems, formerly Avitat Westchester, helped the FBO position itself as the luxury FBO at Westchester County Airport (HPN).Jet Systems, Inc., formerly named Avitat Westchester, has made a name for itself as the luxury FBO at White Plains’ Westchester County Airport (HPN).

Led by president and CEO — and veteran corporate pilot — Michael Dolphin, the FBO continually earns high marks from visiting pilots and passengers for its high level of customer care.

The capability to accommodate large corporate aircraft (including the Boeing Business Jet and BBJ) and convenient location just 40 minutes from New York City makes Jet Systems the perfect choice for Manhattan-bound business travelers. “When Boeing announced that they would begin making the BBJ, we adapted our facilities to accommodate that piece of business,” Dolphin says. White Plains, though geographically farther from Manhattan than other airports, offers much more convenient routes into the city and allows visitors to avoid congestion and traffic.

A multimillion dollar renovation completed in 2006 transformed the hangar and FBO space into a sensory delight, complete with a two-story lobby, floor-to-ceiling tropical fish aquariums, piano music, Starbucks coffee and — first and foremost — high-touch, first-class service. The modern building design incorporates mainly stainless steel and glass, allowing for a tremendous amount of natural light and visibility to the ramp. “There’s truly nothing else like it on the field,” Dolphin says.

The exceptionally upscale appearance isn’t the only standout: Jet Systems takes pride in fast, thorough and efficient service. “No matter how busy our ramp may be, we don’t sacrifice individualized and personal care of each customer,” Dolphin says. More equipment and an expanded service facility mean that the energetic, expertly trained staff can turn aircraft around in record time — no matter the size.

The combination of ramp space, proximity to government and business centers and a sophisticated environment attracts a number of international travelers to Jet Systems. Adding to this appealing mix is the availability of U.S. Customs, as well as a high level of security. Not only are aircraft and passenger vehicles secure, Jet Systems offers clients that wish to travel discreetly a high level of privacy, ensuring they won’t be bothered.

Jet Systems is a full-service FBO offering fuel, oxygen service, tie-downs, a high-tech flight planning room, quiet room and passenger lounge as well as aircraft charters, sales and leasing. Wireless internet access is available throughout the facility. A member of the Avfuel-branded FBO network, Jet Systems offers Avfuel Contract Fuel and the popular AVTRIP pilot rewards program. An on-site café serves a variety of hot and cold beverages along with fresh soups, sandwiches and baked goods.

Guests need not even enter the FBO to experience exceptional service — Galley Direct, a gleaming commissary truck, pulls up planeside for catering needs, including a variety of snacks, beverages and sundries.

According to Dolphin, Jet Systems has claimed the majority of the FBO market share at HPN. However, there are no plans to relax its lofty standards. “The best thing about this industry is that you know when you’re doing it right,” Dolphin says. “What our customers tell us, tell others and report in surveys is that we’re doing it right. We appreciate their business. ”
