Million Air Hosts Grand Opening Celebration of New FBO

Million Air celebrated the grand opening of its newest fixed-based operator (FBO) facility at the Yuma International Airport on Friday, February 19. Million Air Yuma is located adjacent to the Defense Contractor Complex on the field.

Freeman Holdings of Arizona, LLC, owns the franchised FBO. It has invested approximately $2.2 million in the construction of a new 9,600-square-foot facility, which will include standard Million Air amenities – coffee bar, theatre room, state-of-the-art flight planning room, multi-media conference room and a Jet-a-way Café for passengers and crew to enjoy a home-cooked meal.

The investment also included site improvements to the 8,800 square feet of hangar space and one million square feet of ramp space, in addition to the purchase of equipment to service everything from single engine pistons to Antonovs. The facility also services Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner and the 747-8 as they undergo hot weather testing in Yuma.

Long runways and expansive ramp space for military and corporate aircraft attracted Freeman Holdings to Yuma.

“We’re excited about the growth potential for this airport,” said Scott Freeman, Chief Executive Officer of Freeman Holdings of Arizona, LLC. “Yuma’s Marine Corps Air Station, the agricultural growers who frequent the airport, the defense contractors and the active general aviation community all add up to a diverse set of clientele we’re excited to serve.”

More than 250 people, including Yuma Mayor, Alan L. Krieger and President of the Yuma County Airport Authority, Bill Gresser, along with current and potential Million Air customers, attended the grand opening event to learn about Million Air’s service offerings and to tour the facility.
