Sheltair Commences Hangar Expansion at Kissimmee Gateway Airport (KISM)

Sheltair has begun construction to expand its existing hangar facilities at the Kissimmee Gateway Airport (KISM). Since 2001, Sheltair has built and currently manages approximately 115,973 total square feet consisting of 86 individual hangar units.

“This new expansion is a significant investment that reflects the company's long-term commitment to the City of Kissimmee and the Airport. It further supports driving additional economic growth for the airport and community,” said Todd Anderson, Sheltair Chief Operating Officer.

The family-owned aviation company is responding to the increasing need for additional aircraft storage at KISM by starting the construction of its Phase IV development. The multi-million-dollar project, which spans 2.70 acres, will see the construction of three additional hangars that will include nine oversized t-hangars providing a total of 17,622 square feet of space, as well as ten box hangars measuring 50ft x 50ft, with a combined square footage of 25,000. These new hangars will be large enough to accommodate most single and light twin aircraft. These hangars will be equipped with hydraulic doors tailored to meet the needs of modern-day pilots and embody the spirit of innovation.

As Osceola County continues to grow as a technology and agriculture hub, KISM serves as the gateway to the expanding business sector and is the nearest airport to the state’s world-renowned attractions.

“The Kissimmee Gateway Airport is experiencing demands of significant aviation growth,” stated Shaun Germolus, Kissimmee Gateway Airport Director of Aviation. “Being at full hangar capacity, Sheltair’s foresight in constructing the additional hangar facilities will assist us in accommodating the needs of our aviation community.  We value our partnership with Sheltair and look forward to welcoming our new pilots and aircraft owners.”

Construction on the hangars is scheduled to be completed by early summer of 2024. Anyone looking to make leasing inquiries is encouraged to contact Amanda Herx at aherx@sheltairaviation.com.
