NBAA Tells FCC: GPS 'Must Be Protected From All Sources of Interference'

The National Business Aviation Association replied Wednesday to a petition by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) asking for public comment ahead of its final decision on whether embattled telecommunications company LightSquared may deploy a nationwide 4G wireless broadband network, despite repeated test results demonstrating signals from that network would cause catastrophic interference with global positioning system (GPS) signals and receivers.

NBAA Welcomes Sen. Roberts' Amendment to Halt LightSquared Funding

The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) welcomed a legislative amendment from Sen. Pat Roberts (R-KS) to a funding bill that would prohibit the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) from spending federal funds to deploy LightSquared's 4G broadband technology, until it can be proven the technology will not interfere with global positioning system (GPS) receivers.
