Simferopol Airport in Crimea Now Using URFF Airport Identifier

In March 2014, Russia annexed Crimea. Although the region is still classified by ICAO as Disputed Airspace, Russia has started to include the region’s airports in its Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP).

Simferopol Airport now uses the code URFF, instead of UKFF, although this has not been endorsed by ICAO. In a similar situation to that in Northern Cyprus (with respect to Turkey), all flights to Crimea should be arranged via Russia.

At this time, the AC-U-KWIK directory continues to classify Crimea as part of the Ukraine section but uses the URFF airport identifier for Simferopol Airport.
