New FBO Opens at Mexico's Querétaro Intl. Airport

Querétaro, Mexico-based MRO provider Redwings opened an FBO at Querétaro Intercontinental Airport last week, making it the second general aviation handler at the country's fastest-growing airport, which is located 100 nm north of Mexico City.

The two-acre, $2.5 million facility took 14 months to build and offers a 15,000-sq-ft, two-story terminal with waterfalls both inside and outside, as well as a fountain in the entryway. Amenities include four lounges, a conference room, pilot lounge, shower and locker facilities, concierge service and a bar serving margaritas and other indigenous cocktails.

Open 24/7, the FBO has a 40,000-sq-ft hangar that can accommodate aircraft up to a Legacy 600/650. In addition to aircraft storage, the structure houses its maintenance operation, which, while authorized by Mexico’s DGAC for the past six years, was recently awarded FAA Part 145 certification. According to Bernardo Moreno, the location’s director general, the MRO specializes in Hawkers, Beechjets and King Airs. He noted the labor rate is nearly 40 percent lower than any shop in the U.S., and Redwings can offer flat-rate labor pricing for major maintenance inspections.
