City of Naples Airport Authority Announces Employee of the Year

The City of Naples Airport Authority honored Landscape Maintenance Supervisor Christine Chesser as 2014 employee of the year.

Chesser, who joined the Airport Authority staff in December 2013, was nominated by several members of the management team. One nomination said, “Since (she) has come to the Naples Airport Authority the airport grounds have never looked better. She does a great job and always has a smile on her face!”

Another comment was, “Her character and work ethic are reflected outwardly in the landscaping and in her rapport with her crew,” and a third nominator cited Chesser is an example of how “one person can make a significant difference.”

Naples Municipal Airport, a certificated air-carrier airport, is home to flight schools, air charter operators, car rental agencies and corporate aviation and nonaviation businesses as well as fire/rescue services, mosquito control, the Collier County Sheriff’s Aviation Unit and other community services.

During the 2013-2014 fiscal year, the airport accommodated 95,120 takeoffs and landings.

All funds used for the airport’s operation, maintenance and improvements are generated from activities at the airport or from federal and state grants; the airport receives no property tax dollars. The Florida Department of Transportation values the airport’s economic impact to the community at $283.5 million annually.
