Historic Bell UH-1E “Huey” Refuels at Business Jet Center

One of the most storied Vietnam era Bell UH-1E “Huey” helicopters refueled at Business Jet Center after making an appearance at the Helicopter Foundation International's Heritage of Helicopters display at HELI-EXPO 2012.

The Huey was flown in combat with Marine squadron VMO-6 by Capt. Stephen W. Pless, the only Vietnam era Marine Aviator to receive the Medal of Honor.  Pless distinguished himself in August, 1967, when he led a mission to rescue a small group of Army aviators stranded on a beach in a fire fight near Quang Nai. During its service in Viet Nam, this Huey also served with Marine squadrons VMO-2, HML 167 and HML 367.

Now owned by the Collings Foundation, the aircraft makes scheduled appearances at air shows throughout the US and is flown and maintained by volunteers.  Pictured from left are volunteer pilots Larry Abston and Mike Wilson along with Jose Cumplido, Assistant Operations Manager, Business Jet Center,

Business Jet Center donated fuel for the return trip to Houston, TX where the aircraft if based.
