NBAA Announces New Certified Aviation Managers

The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) announced 16 individuals who successfully passed the Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) exam during 2011. Through the certification process, NBAA and the CAM Governing Board seek to raise the level of professionalism and quality of management within flight departments.

The 16 new CAMs are:

  • Derek Benda, pilot, Western Airways, Inc.
  • Jim Bynum, director of aviation, Gaylord Entertainment
  • Ken Combs, senior operations manager, western region, Jet Aviation
  • Dan Dominguez, chief pilot, Taughannock Aviation
  • James Feulner, manager, SF Bay area, regional maintenance, NetJets, Inc.
  • Derek Fitzgerald, flight coordinator, Volo Aviation, LLC
  • D. Patrick Herring, senior aircraft inspector, Eastman Kodak Co.
  • Michael Kosar, safety manager, CenturyLink Aviation
  • Duane Lautzenheiser, pilot, Caesars Entertainment Corporation
  • Steve Mann, president, Cambridge Flight Support
  • Stan Phipps, finance and business services manager, ConocoPhillips
  • Larry Serman, pilot, director of maintenance, Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • Kevin Smith, chief of aircraft maintenance, Progress Energy Service Co.
  • Gregory Strollo, flight mechanic, Pfizer, Inc.
  • Chris Stuntebeck, safety officer, American Family Insurance
  • Martin Tatum, chief of standards, The Coca-Cola Co.

NBAA congratulates these business aviation professionals on their achievement. These individuals have earned the use of the CAM designation and may use it when officially listing their name. The CAM designation provides industry recognition of their achievement and knowledge in the following areas of business aviation: business management, human resources, leadership, operations, and technical and facilities services.

To prepare for the CAM credential, the individuals met or exceeded minimum qualifications based upon experience, training and education. They completed both a formal application process and the CAM exam, which is offered throughout the year in a computer-based format.
