Multi Service Aviation Fuel Card Program Splits in Two

Multi Service and U.S. Bank Complete Portfolio Acquisition, Network Agreement

Multi Service Corp. and U.S. Bank announced the signing of an agreement that will split the existing Multi Service Aviation fuel card program into two, cooperating programs.

U.S. Bank will maintain ownership of the Multi Service Aviation business with fuel suppliers and commercial aviation customers in the United States and Canada. Customers based outside the United States and Canada will be transitioned from the U.S. Bank Multi Service Aviation program to the Multi Service Aero Card program, managed by Multi Service Corp.

The two companies will continue to work together. Multi Service Aviation and Multi Service Aero Card will maintain cross-network card acceptance.

"This agreement is another step in what has been a long-standing relationship with U.S. Bank," Multi Service president Mark O'Connell said. "By combining efforts, we can offer a stronger solution to the global aviation industry."

Multi Service has a long history in the aviation industry. The company initially designed the Multi Service Aviation program in 1981. By the time the program was sold to U.S. Bank in 2005, the Multi Service Aviation card had become the most widely adopted aviation fuel card in the industry. Multi Service has also maintained a presence in aviation through the United States Government AIR Card program of more than 20,000 cardholders. The Multi Service Aero Card program was launched in 2010 and currently supports fueling operations for global military and government agencies at more than 7500 fueling locations in 190 countries and territories.

"Matching the strength of U.S. Bank's North American aviation network with the global reach of Multi Service will create a winning scenario for both companies and, more importantly, for our customers," Jeff Rankin, senior sales and marketing officer for U.S. Bank Corporate Payment Systems, said. "By maintaining cross-network card acceptance, cardholders of both get access to a global merchant network. It's a seamless, streamlined solution for everyone."

For merchants currently accepting the Multi Service Aviation card or AIR Card, no specific action will be required in order to accept the Multi Service Aero Card.  Fuel suppliers not currently included within the AIR Card or Multi Service Aero Card merchant network should contact Multi Service merchant support at +1-866-308-3811 for more information.

Cards will be rolled out to customers immediately; existing Multi Service Aviation cards will continue to work in the interim.

"We expect a seamless transition for both fuel suppliers and card users," O'Connell said. "The supplier network, program infrastructure and support staff are in place, and we are looking forward to future enhancements."
