TCM President Rhett Ross to Speak March 12

Rhett Ross, President of Teledyne Continental MotorsRhett Ross, President of Teledyne Continental Motors (TCM), will be the featured guest speaker at the regular bi–monthly meeting of the Atlanta Aero Club scheduled for March 12.

Ross, who became president of TCM in the fall 2007, has 21 years of mechanical and nuclear engineering management experience and was previously president of Teledyne Energy Systems. He has also served as an officer in the U.S. Navy’s Submarine Service with responsibility for Reactor Operations.

As President of TCM, Ross is responsible for Piston Aircraft Operations in Mobile, Alab. The aircraft piston operations date back more than 95 years and range from the early A-70 radial engine to the engines for the Voyager aircraft, which successfully circumnavigated the globe without refueling. Today, TCM supplies engines to many new piston-powered OEM aircraft as well as aftermarket aircraft applications.

“Teledyne Continental Motors is a proven leader in the manufacturing of new and rebuilt piston powered engines,” said Steve Champness, President of the Atlanta Aero Club. “In today’s difficult economic times, companies like TCM face both old and new challenges." Champness also said Atlanta Aero Club looked forward to hearing from Ross about how TCM was positioning itself for the future as well as the outlook for General Aviation in 2009 and beyond.

The meeting is scheduled for noon on March 12 in the Grand Ballroom of the Capital City Club, 7 Harris St., downtown Atlanta. The cost is $40 for members and $45 for non-members and includes lunch.
