McCreery Aviation, a long-standing family owned FBO business, is commemorating 80 years of continuous operations with a weeklong celebration at its facility located at the McAllen International Airport (MFE), McAllen, TX.

Founded in 1946 by J.F. “Mac” McCreery, the company started as a small flight school operating out of a grass strip runway. Today, under the legacy leadership of Mac’s son Bob McCreery, the company continues to expand its full service FBO business model with more than 165,00 sq. ft. of operational space to include a revamped terminal building as well as 13 storage and executive hangars.

“My father, a flight and gunnery instructor during World War II, saw great potential in this region for aviation services, starting with pilot training,” said Bob McCreery, president. “It was because of his vision that led our company to becoming an authorized Cessna Dealer and Service Center and all the ancillary aviation services followed to include aircraft fueling, maintenance, parts, avionics sales and repair, aircraft charter and, of course, we still offer flight training.”

According to McCreery, the success of the company is primarily due to the hard work and dedication of their 48 employees and the family-style customer experience that adds a special personal touch.

“Because of the proximity of the FBO to the Southern U.S. border, our airport has on-field U.S. Customs which helps attract many transient customers flying in from various regions of Mexico”, McCreery explained. “In addition, many of our employees are bilingual which aids our team in providing exemplary service and assists our customers get to where they want to go in a very efficient manner.”

McCreery Aviation began its 80th year in business milestone celebration with a reception and dedication ceremony for the City of McAllen and Airport authorities as well as friends, family and employees.
