Million Air Acquires FBO at IND

Million Air has acquired Signature Flight Support's former Hawker Beechcraft facility at the Indianapolis International Airport (IND). As of Sept. 15, Million Air began operating the fixed-base operation servicing general aviation aircraft at IND. Million Air will manage and operate 57,000 square feet of facility and hangar storage space. Further enhancements to the recently constructed FBO terminal are planned to incorporate Million Air’s standard first-class amenities with anticipated completion by spring 2010.

Aircraft Values Neutralize After Descent

Aircraft values reported in the previous quarter were in a spiral dive, but the economy’s pilot now appears to have neutralized the rapid descent. For the most part, values have arrived at ground level. Inventories have shown signs of stability with little or no growth in units for sale. Other market indicators show signs of neutralization as well. Aircraft dealers and brokers report that interest has increased. Phones are ringing more with potential buyers on the line. Compared to the 2005 baseline real gross domestic product, GDP declined 1.0 percent in the second quarter of 2009 after declining 6.4 percent in the first quarter. These indicators support the signs of neutralization in the marketplace, though the used aircraft market has no reason to rally.

Capital City Jet Center Stresses Customer Service in Columbus

Since Bolton Field opened in Columbus, Ohio, in 1969, several companies have provided FBO services there. But none established a true high-end corporate jet facility. At times, good customer service was nonexistent. Aircraft would land, pull up to the gate and be greeted by an empty passenger terminal. The flight crews would be left to wander around the airport looking for line service, only to be told, “Sorry, we’re out of fuel.” Those days have changed.
