Thunderbird Aviation Ramps up Runway for Ryder Cup

Thunderbird Aviation, a Phillips 66 Aviation branded full- service provider of aviation fuels and aircraft maintenance, is busy preparing for the additional aircraft traffic and travelers who will be coming in and out of Flying Cloud Airport (KFCM), the closest airport to Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota where the 41st Ryder Cup is being held. September 30 marks day one of the three-day golf event, which biennially brings together 12-member teams both from the U.S. and Europe.

“There’s a lot of excitement and anticipation as we near the start of the historic Ryder Cup,” said Nancy Grazzini-Olson, President of Thunderbird Aviation. “Our goal at Thunderbird is to make the travel process as smooth as possible for those coming and going to the Ryder Cup. With more than 50 years in the aviation business, our staff has the industry knowledge and know-how to ensure every traveler, whether top golf contender in the tournament or golf enthusiast, experiences first-class concierge in a safe and comfortable environment.”

In addition to bringing on additional staff to handle the increased traffic, students at Academy College have the opportunity to volunteer at Thunderbird to gain valuable experience during the event. Thunderbird is an official aviation-training provider for Academy College, the Twin Cities’ largest Collegiate Commercial Pilot Flight Training Program, and the exclusive provider of Minnesota’s one and only FAA-approved Aircraft Dispatch Training Program.

Travelers will be able to take advantage of Thunderbird Aviation’s numerous amenities including valet parking, concierge services, rental cars, catering, complimentary refreshments and a relaxing pilot lounge.
