CBAA Announces Appointment of New President and CEO

Doug Ware, Chair of the Board of Directors, is please to announce the appointment of Sam Barone as CBAA President and CEO, effective August 25, 2008.

Ware said Barone will bring executive level experience, a proven track record and a tested diverstity of skills to the CBAA. He also said Barone was well placed to assume the leadership of the Association and the ongoing development and direction of its regulatory stewardship and advocacy roles.

With more than 28 years of experience, Barone was most recently President and CEO of the Air Transport Association of Canada (ATAC). He has held a wide variety of aviation and transportation-related assignments in the public, private, and not-for-proft sectors. Prior to joining ATAC, Barone was Regional Vice President of InterVISTAS Transportation Consulting Inc. in Ottawa. Between 1999 and 2003, he was President of Transporation Partners Management Consultants, which he founded. Barone was President and CEO of the Canadian Trucking Human Resources Council in Ottawa from 1996 to 1999.

His 16 years experience with the Canadian Federal Government (Transport Canada, Canadian Transporation Agency, and Competition Bureau) includes several advisory positions dealing with the Canadian aviation, airport and intermodal transportation sectors.

Barone holds a BA in Economics from McMaster University, completed graduate business studies as an Executive Fellow of Business Administration (FBA) at the Canadian School of Management and is a Fellow of Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport in London, England.

Barone is a volunteer on the Board of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in North America and in 2008, he was appointed to the Hope Air board of directors.

He is also a member of the National Business Association Roundtable at the Public Policy Forum of Canada in Ottawa.
