World Fuel to Acquire AVCARD

The upcoming merger between World Fuel Services (WFS) and AVCARD is expected to generate significant growth opportunities for both companies.

“We will now be able to market our flight support and third-party services to all of AVCARD's customers, while at the same time providing AVCARD's robust data capture and reporting solution to our current customers, as well as those of our strategic partners,” said Paul H. Stebbins, WFS chairman and CEO, in a company statement.

WFS has also said that it is likely to position AVCARD’s offerings within its land and marine businesses.

While WFS provides fuel and quality control-related, logistical support services at more than 2,500 airports, seaports and tanker truck terminals worldwide, AVCARD is a tool for acquiring fuel and training, aircraft maintenance, fuel, ground services and consulting.

Roughly 9,000 aircraft operated by flight departments of major corporations, fractional/charter operators and governments use AVCARD.

Its merchant/fuel supplier network covers more than 7,600 locations in 190-plus countries.

The merger is scheduled to close in 2008.
